post traffic is up

Well, I posted that last project about the dojo grid, and now my hit rate for the blog is way up. I guess this is a fairly popular subject. I think I’ll post a new project along the same no-nonsense lines. This one will be a basic template to set up your dojo pages using JSPs. I will probably post it as an eclipse project as well. Look for that some time in November.

Thank you for taking the time to post the Dojo grid and datastore examples. You’ve obviously done a lot of research and custom coding to coax Dojo into working the way you want it to.

Knowing what you know now about Dojo’s documentation and features, do you think you’d chose Dojo again, or would you choose a different toolkit?

The issue with this toolkits has always been the learning curve, not the specific toolkit. It’s tempting to think that one is clearly “better” than the other. The real issue is that they all come with pre-conceived and frequently undocumented methods of using them. My advice is to pick one and really learn it well.

Dojo has worked out fine for my needs. I use it for home projects, and I use it for production code at work. I don’t use other toolkits because it has just about everything I need in it. The only gripe I have about dojo is the documentation, which is normal across all these toolkits.
